who we are

Asral NGO is an award-winning NGO established in 1992 by Venerable Panchen Ötrul Rinpoche, working in partnership with local government and community leaders. Children are at the heart of what we do. Asral’s strategy is to protect vulnerable children by preventing families from breaking up.

Asral NGO’s centre in Ulaanbaatar was built in 2003 and employs nine full-time and two part-time staff, including a director, social worker, accountant, cook, maintenance man, trainer in vegetable growing and two part-time teachers.

Established in the heart of the shanty district, the centre houses Asral’s training programmes, English teaching classes, community room, Hot Meal Project, Social Work Programme and the MIM felt-making project. Thousands of vulnerable people have been supported by Asral NGO’s humanitarian projects.
