Asral’s success so far Ulaanbaatar 102 women have been trained in traditional sewing and felting At kindergarten no 133 two rooms were renovated by Asral to provide for 25 very poor children who are now supported, including food warm clothes and boots. 33 children receive a daily hot meal on the way to school during the winter. 27 children and students are currently sponsored for tuition fees, school uniform, school books etc. 80 children have received additional English lessons each summer since 2001. 300 children have received additional maths and other subjects as necessary since 2003. Facilities are offered for children to do their homework at the centre. 15 families have been provided with their own ger accommodation 6 people have been given hospital treatment, 6 bedridden people with extra medical care. 15 very weak babies are being provided with extra special nourishment Coal, warm clothes and food are given to families in great need during the winter. Around Ulaanbaatar - Gachuurt The kindergarten was renovated in 2005 and a rural ger provided, expanding capacity from 160 children to 256 in this area. 30 families have been trained to grow vegetables and are given seeds and tools as needed etc. 2 families provided with ger accommodation. Gobi - Ondershil 23 children are provided with a hot daily meal during the winter, warm cloths, boots and school books. 55 women have been trained in felting, spinning and knitting. 2 families have been provided with ger accommodation 12 people have been sent to Ulaanbaatar for hospital treatment An extension is being provided to the hospital maternity unit for post and anti-natal care. Equipment for the treatment of ear, nose and throat problems has been provided plus physio equipment. We have recently set up a non-profit making business called MIM (Made In Mongolia) which will provide a financial self-sufficiency for the above projects and more self-sustaining work for the people.
